Police Officer

Building Inspector

The Town of Silt is looking for a Building Inspector. This position works closely with the public to issue building permits, conduct building inspections, and enforce construction codes, local zoning codes, and flood plain ordinances. This position reports directly to the Community Development Director and the Town’s Building Official. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Reviews plans submitted with permit applications for compliance with applicable codes before issuance of a permit. Determines the valuation of proposed construction. Inspects building sites during and upon completion of construction to ensure compliance with plan submittals and local codes. Issues certificates of occupancy for completed projects. SKILLS: Require written and verbal communication skills; detailed organizational acumen; general construction code interpretation and understanding. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School graduate, or equivalent, plus two years additional training in building and construction. Prefer three (3) years of continuous experience as a Building Inspector with a municipal or independent agency. Extensive experience in the construction or building trades may be substituted. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: Must have ICC certification as a residential and commercial building inspector. COMPENSATION: Salary range of $76,500 to $101,500, with an anticipated hiring range is $76,500 to $90,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience. Planner I

The Town of Silt is looking for a Planner I. This position works closely with the public, developers, contractors, and other agencies to provide professional planning services, process development applications, review permits, assist with current and long-range planning projects, and ensure compliance with the Silt Municipal Code. The position reports directly to the Community Development Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Reviews and processes development applications, including site plans, special use permits, variances, design review applications, building permits, sign permits, fence permits, and other land use applications. Interprets and explains planning and zoning regulations to developers, builders, and the public. Reviews development proposals, building plans, surveys, subdivision plats, and site plans for compliance with Town codes. Assists with updates to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, Land Division Code, and Zoning Code. Conducts research, analyzes data, prepares staff reports, and assists with current and long-range planning studies. Provides support for public meetings, citizen engagement activities, and assigned boards and commissions. Coordinates planning activities with Town departments and referral agencies and provides timely, courteous customer service. SKILLS: Requires strong written and verbal communication skills; organizational and project management abilities; customer service skills; research and analytical capabilities; and the ability to interpret and explain planning and zoning regulations. Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), mapping software, website technologies, and Microsoft Office applications is preferred. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in planning, landscape architecture, political science, public administration, geography, or a related field. One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, local government, or a related field preferred. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: A valid driver’s license is required. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is preferred but not required. COMPENSATION: Salary range is anticipated to be 63,000 to 90,000, depending upon qualification and experience. Water/Wastewater I

The Town of Silt is looking for a team player to fill the full-time position at our Water/Wastewater Department. This position is a level I that performs work in the field and at the water and wastewater plant. Work in the field will be on a regular basis including such tasks as meter reading, repairing, fire hydrant maintenance and flushing. Collecting water samples for laboratory testing and arranging delivery of such. Assisting with repairs inside and outside of the plants. Grounds maintenance and general clean up duties. Such employee shall learn the workings of both plants efficiently enough to be worked into the on-call schedule with the other operators at the departments. Complex water process control and quality analysis within a laboratory and plant environment to ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental standards.  Work involves responsibility for the care and efficient operation of the water and wastewater treatment plants, and associated distribution/collections systems. Education, training and experience requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Colorado Driver’s License is needed. A willingness to learn the operations and maintenance of water, wastewater, distribution, and collections systems is required.  A willingness to obtain any of the disciplinary involved licenses is required.  A maintenance or plumbing background is preferred.  The ability to read, comprehend and follow directives and written standards of procedure is important.  Must have the ability to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other professionals, operators, and the general public. Salary $50,960.00 to $62,400.00, DOE, plus full benefit package. Water/Wastewater Position II

Town of Silt is looking for a team player to fill the full-time position at our Water/wastewater department. This position is a level II that performs a variety of complex water process control and quality analysis within a laboratory and plant environment to ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental standards.  Work involves responsibility for the care and efficient operation of the treatment plant, collection systems and distribution systems associated with the water and wastewater systems. Education, training and experience requirements include 2 - 4 years of experience in operations and maintenance of water and wastewater utility systems is required.  Class C or higher in water and wastewater treatment certifications is desirable.  Extensive knowledge of procedures and practices of water and wastewater production, collection treatment, distribution, maintenance, operations and repair are required.  Employee must possess a thorough knowledge of Department of Health and Environments regulations pertaining to operation of water and wastewater utilities. Salary $55,120.00 to $66,560.00, DOE, plus full benefit package.
